Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
I accept insurance for individual therapy services. Couples counseling and co-parenting therapy are offered on a private-pay basis. Please contact me if you have questions about fees or insurance coverage for individual therapy.
Is couples counseling covered by insurance?
Couples counseling is a private-pay service in my practice. Insurance coverage is generally based on the diagnosis and medical necessity of an individual client, while couples counseling focuses on the relationship and the concerns of the couple.
Do you offer free consultations?
I do not offer free consultation calls. If you are interested in working together, you are welcome to schedule an initial appointment. This gives us enough time to discuss what is bringing you in, clarify your goals, and determine whether my approach is a good fit for your needs.
Do you offer co-parenting therapy?
Yes. I work with parents who are separated, divorced, or navigating difficult co-parenting relationships. Co-parenting therapy focuses on improving communication, reducing conflict, establishing healthier boundaries, and helping parents develop a more effective working relationship centered on the needs of their children.
What issues do you work with?
My practice focuses primarily on relationships and family transitions, including couples counseling, co-parenting therapy, divorce and separation, blended families, adoption-related concerns, and complex relationship dynamics. I also work with individuals navigating relationship concerns, life transitions, anxiety, grief, and personal growth.
What can I expect at the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for me to learn more about what brings you to counseling and what you hope to change. We will discuss your concerns, relevant history, goals for therapy, and what working together might look like.
How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly or biweekly sessions, depending on their needs and goals. We can discuss the frequency that makes the most sense for you during your initial appointment.
How long does counseling take?
There is no set timeline. The length of counseling depends on your goals, the concerns you are addressing, and the progress you make along the way. We will periodically evaluate your progress and whether counseling continues to be helpful.
Do you work with high-conflict couples and co-parents?
Yes. I work with couples and co-parents experiencing significant conflict, communication difficulties, disconnection, and challenging relationship dynamics. My approach focuses on helping clients recognize unproductive patterns, improve communication, establish healthier boundaries, and reduce conflict.
How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
My style is active, direct, and relationship-focused. I provide support and validation while also helping clients identify patterns, take responsibility for what they can change, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. The initial session gives us an opportunity to determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
